This course cover scarcity, opportunity cost, incentives and marginal thinking, supply and demand, what markets do well and why trade pays, market failures and government failures, money, banks and inflation, growth, unemployment and the business cycle, inequality and how it is measured, and the main economic systems along with habits for thinking like an economist about public questions.
The aim is understanding, not persuasion: you should finish able to explain the main tools economists use, state competing views as their best defenders would, and tell where a disagreement is about facts and where it is about values. No background or math beyond simple arithmetic needed.
