BackstoryPolicy Areas Pledges Constitutional Model Participation & Voting Since upvoting and downvoting are somewhat dying due to a number of issues with users abusing the system, I'm working on different ways to capture merit in the system. The system is still basic and based on upvoting, but as time goes on, I'll find other sources to support growth and integrity. Right now there's a "weighting" score:The weighting score is based on the upvote and user participation. The sort function offers a sort by weighting option. Weighting works like this in the user profile:On the back end I have a tuning mechanism:So as you move up the tiers your weighted score becomes more leading to merit based sorting. It has to be tuned as time goes on, but you get the basics of the idea.So, when I get a good support team, these are basically the fundamentals of the voting system we will be using to start. It's all based on upvoting for now, but, I likely will change that to other more complex positive support metrics that are amplified with positive, good faith participation. First step would probably be to detach the weighting from upvoting and just go by content amount and quality, then have a sort that mixes upvotes with a standalone weighting score.-kalokagathia (1/3/2026)
