Conscious lies, vs. honesty for the common good

Suppose, in a consequencialist sense, lies would achieve a noble goal. But honesty, would subvert it. While honesty is a positive attribute, in itself, for itself, from a consequencialist perspective, sometimes, the ends may justify the means. As long as the means don't become so destructive as to delegitimize the end when evaluated from the view of the entire form.
